Collierville, Tenn. (October 15, 2012) – Emma Sisson, a senior at St. George’s Independent School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Sisson was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. She and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Emma, a senior, is an outstanding student who holds a 4.86 weighted grade point average. She earned a 34 on the ACT. She has been named an AP Scholar with Honor. She currently is taking a difficult course load which includes four AP classes. Emma received the University of Virginia Jefferson Book Award. She also is a three sport athlete.
This year Emma is the co-leader of the Model UN and Youth in Government programs. She received outstanding delegate awards at both state conventions. In addition, she is a prefect, the highest level of leadership at St. George’s. Prefects, who are selected by students and faculty, are chosen based on their level of contribution to academics, extracurricular activities and the community.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, Le-Moyne Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
